2023 Season Show Submission
Hello Prospective Directors!
Thank you for your interest in putting on a show at The Acting Company for our 2023 Season. Below you will find a link to a form to fill out about your experience and to provide information about the show you want to direct.
Before we get to that, I’d like to give you some information about both the season we are hoping to create and the process for choosing shows to fill that season.
The Season
- Season 2023 is planned to be a season of “nostalgia.” That can mean the shows can harken back to previous periods of time or can be shows that we might have performed on our stage before (like 5+ years ago).
- We are hoping to produce 2-3 musicals next year. Our patrons really enjoy musicals. We are looking at doing these musicals with an “empty pit” (i.e. pre-recorded music). If you have access to a skilled accompanist, we can discuss that during the vetting process.
- We plan to have shows that appeal to all of our wide and varied patron base.
- The shows for the season also need to fit the criteria of being appropriate for our venue (i.e. no “cast of thousands” or sets that wouldn’t be able to be built on our small stage).
The Process
- You will fill out the linked form expressing your interest and giving us information about both yourself and the show you are interested in
- The season committee will look at those submissions and make a preliminary determination about the viability of the show and will look at your previous experience
- The submissions that pass that hurdle, will have perusal scripts procured for the committee to read.
- After that, the director will be asked to meet with the committee to “pitch” their idea and answer questions
- Once through that the committee will build a season and present it to the TAC Board.
