Bold, surprising, boisterous, and timely, this P&P for a new era explores the absurdities and thrills of finding your perfect (or imperfect) match in life. The outspoken Lizzy Bennet is determined to never marry, despite mounting pressure from society. But can she resist love, especially when that vaguely handsome, mildly amusing, and impossibly aggravating Mr. Darcy keeps popping up at every turn?! Literature’s greatest tale of latent love has never felt so theatrical, or so full of life than it does in this effervescent adaptation. Because what turns us into greater fools...than the high-stakes game of love?

In the middle of a howling snowstorm, a bus out of Kansas City pulls up at a cheerful roadside diner. All roads are blocked, and four or five weary travelers are going to have to hole up until morning. Cherie, a nightclub chanteuse in a sparkling gown and a seedy fur-trimmed jacket, is the passenger with most to worry about. She’s been pursued, made love to and finally kidnapped by a twenty-one-year-old cowboy with a ranch of his own and the romantic methods of an unusually headstrong bull. The belligerent cowhand is right behind her, ready to sling her over his shoulder and carry her, alive and kicking, all the way to Montana. As a counterpoint to the main romance, the proprietor of the cafe and the bus driver at last find time to develop a friendship of their own; a middle-age scholar comes to terms with himself; and a young girl who works in the cafe also gets her first taste of romance.

The Pirates of Penzance tells the tale of Frederic, a young man who believes he is bound by duty to remain a pirate until his 21st birthday. However, since he was born on February 29th—a leap year—he discovers that he won’t actually turn 21 for many years to come. Along the way, Frederic meets an array of colorful characters, such as the flamboyant Pirate King, the quick-witted Major-General, and a spirited group of maidens. Torn between his sense of duty and his love for the charming Mabel, Frederic finds himself in a series of hilarious dilemmas. The story unfolds with plenty of humor, romance, and a delightful touch of whimsy, reminding audiences that even the most rigid obligations can be outsmarted.
