Dr. Gerald Lyman: A divorced, alcoholic former professor who’s attracted to young
girls. He represents a darker, more worldly side of the play.
Grace Hoyland: The diner owner. She’s experienced heartbreak and is now a
grounded, independent woman, drawn to the bus driver Carl.
Carl: The bus driver. A kind and experienced man who is intrigued by Grace.
Will Masters: The town sheriff. He tries to maintain order and acts as a figure of
authority.
Virgil Blessings: Bo’s friend and mentor. He’s a simple, goodhearted cowboy who
often plays guitar and helps Bo navigate his feelings.
